Recruiting is a very important part of a successful program. This is where the students really get excited about joining the band and playing an instrument. Our recruiting is done in three parts. The first is an instrument demonstration where we play and demonstrate all of the instruments available, which are flute clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and snare drum.

This demonstration includes information about how brass, woodwind and percussion instruments were made along with a little bit of music history.

A few days later we let each child select two instruments (instrument testing) to try, while our teachers check for physical characteristics and make recommendations. The third part is an hour-long parent sign up, either after school or during an evening. This is where parents can talk with our staff, get questioned questions answered and sign up for the program.

All through the recruiting process we are providing students and parents with fliers and letters that give them most of the information they need.
