Chicago Wolves Game – Saturday, January 21

All 2nd year and above band students are invited to play at a Chicago Wolves game! We will be playing a set of music before a Chicago Wolves hockey game at the Allstate Arena! With over 10,000 fans attending these games along with indoor fireworks and laser show, this will be an exciting evening!

The Chicago Wolves event is now full and registration is closed.

School Concerts

Students perform at two major concerts every year. Their first concert is in December and features a variety of music selections from the students repertoire. This is also the first concert for the beginning band students. It is amazing to see what students accomplish in just a few short months!

Their second concert is at the end of the school year. This concert features full band arrangements as well as special features for trios, duets and soloists. Each concert provides a showcase of what students have learned in their band lessons and makes an enjoyable evening for family and friends!

Kane County Cougars Game

Every year our band students are invited to perform the Star Spangled Banner at a Kane County Cougars baseball game. This is a fun, family event. The students play in front of thousands of fans and after the performance, go back in the stands and sit with their families to watch great minor league baseball. Music, food, families, fireworks, and baseball. What a great combination!

Band For Today Honor Band – April 20 & 21

The Band For Today Honor Band is made up of intermediate and advanced students who are nominated by their teacher. The Honor Band is a full day of sectional rehearsals and ensemble rehearsals, culminating in an afternoon performance. Students are selected based upon attendance, attitude, ability and citizenship. The day is committed to the highest quality of instruction and performance and a variety of music is chosen which is always exciting and challenging.

A parent response to the 2010 Honor Band:

Congratulations on a SUPERB Honors Band Concert!! Thank you for allowing our daughter the opportunity to participate in and learn from this wonderful experience. Her grandparents were extremely impressed with the caliber of the musicians and quality of the music. Her brothers were also inspired. The time and effort you and your fellow Band For Today instructors put forth is truly evident and appreciated!

Band For Today Solo Contest – Saturday, February 25

Every year, Band For Today hosts a solo contest for students. This contest involves students playing a solo before a judge. The students are rated on pitch, rhythm, technique, and presentation. First, second, and third places receive either a gold, silver or bronze medal and perfect scores with the solo memorized receive an engraved trophy. This is a great way for students to take a little more responsibility for their own improvement as young musicians.

Band For Today structures this contest as a positive, educational and rewarding experience for our students.
